A 2013 study on an online version of The Lancet found that people who use
vaporizers are more likely to quit smoking and is as effective as Nicotine Patches in helping
people to stop smoking.

A study conducted by the University of Auckland New Zealand conducted only
the second trial to test the performance of e-cigarettes and the first to assess the
effect of e-cigarette over nicotine patches in helping people give up smoking.
It is found that 7.3% of conducted participants were able to give up smoking
after a 6 months period that used nicotine based vaporizers over 5.8% of
participants who used Nicotine Patches.

It was also noted in the study that the result were not conclusive, but it was
noted that people who wish to quit smoking preferred vaporizers over patches.
A 2014 study which was conducted in England published that out of those who
attempted to quit smoking without professional help, people who used
e-cigarettes were more likely to report staying off cigarettes than those using
over-the-counter nicotine replacement products, or who received no quitting

A 2014 review of studies conducted on controlled group of individual the
Cochrane Collaboration found that they performed better than a placebo or
dummy treatment. The study found that 9 out of 100 people stopped smoking
altogether by using e-cigarettes compared with 4 out of 100 people who used the
placebo treatment.

Also, 43 out of 100 people cut down smoking by at least half compared with
about 27 out of 100 who used the placebo treatment. However, there wasn’t
much evidence that e-cigarettes worked better than nicotine patches. The
researcher said that the results of the studies they reviewed are far from
definitive, and in time future research may contradict their findings, but that
based on current evidence they said e-cigarettes may be helpful for some people.
